Technology
We respect the right of some Christian schools to advocate the minimal use of computers in the Christian educational process. We do understand the dangers of the Internet and the cost of maintaining computers.
At Faith we believe that the computer is a tool to be used to its fullest capacity. Over the years, FCS has developled an entire 10 acre campus that is networked to a Windows Server. Some of the buildings are connected via fiber optics. We use School Dynamics Software which allows our teachers to be 100% computerized for lelsson plans, gradebook, taking lunch orders, communicating with parents via e-mail, communicating with each via an announcement module, attendance and discipline. Our software also uploads this information to the Worldwide Web where parents have constant access to their child's information. Teachers have a networked computer at their desks for their convenience.
Faith has taken many steps to ensure the protection of their students. Using Windows for basic security. We also incorporate a secure firewall, Cyber-sitter Internet filter, and the enterprise version of Symantec anti-virus software.
Microsoft Office is used in our middle school / high school labs as well as Mavis Beacon Typing Tutor. Faith presently has a computerized Passport Learning Center Reading Enhancement program in our Talent Development Center. Each elementary classroom has four student computers. Our library is also fully computerized with access to the MARC library system for accurate cataloging.
